Summer Arts Camps • Multimedia
ages 7 to 14
Each student is required to bring their own ice-cream pail or bucket. We will be setting up a staggered drop off and pick up time to ensure proper physical distancing is followed. Students should bring their bag lunch and morning and afternoon snacks that do not contain any peanut products.
Theatre Instructor: TBD
Students will begin each session with a full body and vocal warm-up including breathing exercises for support and projection while onstage. Students will learn technical terminology and have a better understanding of the theatre and stage. They will gain an understanding of scripts, monologues and how character development, is influenced by acting choices. It will be a fun informative program that will give students an opportunity to explore the behind the scenes of theatre, with a foray into acting for film and television.
Students should bring indoor shoes and wear comfortable clothing.

Students will begin the week working on creating the components of an art project that they will develop and create using several different media. At the end of the week, students will walk out with new skills and abilities in a variety of art techniques including hand building, design concept, drawing and painting.
Please wear cloths that it is okay to get paint on.

Dance Instructors: Miss Maggie and Miss Alexe
Students will begin with a warm up, and then learn basic dance techniques using the barre or centre floor. Students will have the opportunity to explore different disciplines and dance styles throughout the week of camp.
Monday to Thursday: 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring indoor shoes or dance shoes if you have them.

Art Camp • Mural Making Camp with Graffiti Art Programming • Ages 14 to 19
Half day camp • Monday to Friday
Dates: August 19 to August 23, 2019
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Work with experienced mural artists from Graffiti Art Programming to design and paint a mural.
Learn about colour theory and all of the steps of mural painting from coming up with ideas and themes to sketching to painting your finished piece.
You will be encouraged to think big and learn how to plan and create collaborative artwork on a large scale!
At Graffiti Art Programming, established guest artists work with young and emerging artists exploring ways to use the arts as a tool to engage with social justice issues.
Art Camp • Claymation Filmmaking Camp with Freeze Frame Media Art Centre • Ages 7 to 13

This summer Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment welcomes Freeze Frame Media Art Centre to Portage la Prairie for a one-week cinema boot camp for kids.
Learn about cinematic techniques from the oldest to the newest through fun games and activities!
Create your own claymation film from script writing to character building, to animating to voice-overs and finally editing.
See your films played at a mini film festival at the Glesby Theatre for family and friends (popcorn included!).
Freeze Frame is Manitoba’s Media Arts Centre for Young People. It offers workshops and programs throughout the year, and organizes the International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages each spring.

Explore clay hand building techniques and experience the thrill of throwing a vessel on the potter’s wheel!
Get a taste of hands-on “back-to-basic” skills, such as weaving and sewing, a demonstration on spinning raw wool, and see how to mill flour from grain.
Time permitting – there will be lessons on edible wild plants, how to grow your own sprouts, and the ancient techniques of batik fabric dying.

Gabriele Neuschwander is an experienced local potter and instructor. Her works are in private collections throughout Canada.
